I Was There: Oral Histories of the March on Washington

Please join us at the Central DC Public Library, Martin Luther King Jr., Aug. 20 at 6:30 p.m. for a lively panel discussion featuring four individuals who attended the historic March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom 50 years ago and will reflect on their experiences.

Panelists include:

Howard University alumna and retired Howard University administrator and academic Dr. Ella Kelly;
Social activist Chris Hager;
Journalist and Malcomite A. Peter Bailey; and
LGBT activist Paul Kuntzler.

These activists’ oral histories will be permanently archived in the library’s Special Collections Department. There will also be a short video presentation. In the Black Studies Center, Room 316.

**Special Collections is currently seeking to collect oral histories of D.C. residents only who attended the March on Washington and memorabilia (photographs, buttons, flyers, programs, etc).
